1838 Carl Johann Dietrich Kreul (1803-1867), multitalented and well-known as an artist and inventor becomes the founder of the company in Nuremberg. He develops a special machine for the production of oil colors which remained unrivalled into the next century.
1842 Carl Kreul relocated his company to Forchheim to profit from the strategic advantages of this location.
1922 The Company is purchased by the Schmidt family, residents of Forchheim and pharmacists by profession.
1959 Dr. Julius Schmidt, a chemist, becomes head of the company.
1983 His daughter, Gertraud Hawranek, Dipl.-Kfm., joins management.
1988 Gertraud Hawranek becomes an associate with C. KREUL.
1990 Gertraud Hawranek initiates the new KREUL model in fruitful collaboration with Professor Renker until 2001 the KREUL model moved forward briskly.
1992 A new strategy concept is introduced, the range of products and distribution policy are modernized.
1996 C. KREUL moves to its new manufacturing facilities in Hallerndorf. In the same year C. KREUL and Faber-Castell agree on mutual distribution channels.
1997 C. KREUL expands its range of products and incorporates the Marianne Hobby line of arts-and crafts items and floral decorations.
1998 For the first time ever C. KREUL is listed among the âÂÂTop 100companies in Bavaria.
1999 Wolfgang Mller, former head of Distribution, joins management. Numerous new jobs are created, the number of employees grows. C. KREUL is awarded the âÂÂJobstar for the region of northern Bavaria.
2000 C. KREUL is elected Entrepreneur of the Year 2000â and ¢ÂÂThe Best Entrepreneurs Under The Sun.
2001 In a move to expand its strategic concept C. KREUL launches the second building site as a forward-looking investment. C: KREUL and tesa agree to share distribution channels.
2002 C. KREUL qualified for Bavarias Best 50 title on the grounds of its high performance.
2003 C. KREUL receives the TOP 100 award for innovators in family-run small enterprises n Germany. C. KREUL is member of the Environmental Pact of Bavaria: C. KREUL works for cleaner air and zero emissions, a suitable use of resources and applies an Eco-management scheme.
2004 C: KREUL and edding agree to share distribution channels.
2004 C. KREUL demonstrates its ability of production of high-quality products by the certification DIN ISO 9001.

2005 Dr. Florian Hawranek, son of the owner Gertraud Hawranek, joins management and becomes Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
2006/2007 Strategic realignment. At the turn of the year, C. KREUL faced its future challenges with fundamental personnel restructuring: The owner and managing partner, Dipl.-Kfm. Gertrud Hawranek remains Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Wolfgang Mller and Gertraud Hawranek still take responsibility for the operative business. As Wolfgang Mller is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) he will be more involved in international transactions in the future. Dr. Florian Hawranek becomes Chief Financial Officer (CFO) being responsible for Finance, Human Resources and International Business. - The generational change has been succeeded.
2007 C. KREUL and the market leader KreativBcher frechverlag, based in Stuttgart, form a strategic alliance.
